Pioneers of the vintage system

Williams & Humbert are true pioneers in the production of biologically aged vintage sherry having launched the first vintage fino and vintage amontillado of the Jerez Region.

In 2001 Williams & Humbert began to experiment with a line of biologically aged vintage sherry, resulting in Fino en Rama Vintage 2006; the first vintage fino launched onto the market. It was a pioneer Fino in the Jerez Region, a biologically aged vintage in which the characteristic layer of yeast had been maintained for over seven years. The uniqueness of this Fino en Rama 2006 meant that this vintage sherry received important recognition, such as the Gold Medal awarded at the International Wine Challenge 2015 or the 93 points given by Robert Parker in his latest Guide. High scores were also achieved by other vintage sherries from the Bodega, such as the 93 points awarded to Oloroso 1982 Single Cask or the 91 given to Oloroso 2001 by Robert Parker’s prestigious journal, The Wine Advocate.

Forerunner in the field of biological aging, Williams & Humbert was also the first winery in the Jerez Region to launch a vintage amontillado: the limited edition 2003 Amontillado that has just recently reached the market. Along with this sherry the winery has marketed Fino and Oloroso of different vintages that have featured in the 2016 edition of the Robert Parker Guide, in which Fino 2009 received 93 points, Amontillado 2003, 92 points and Oloroso 2003, 91 points. These vintages from the current Collection are a limited edition selected from the different extractions periodically carried out by the winery.
